There are various stories about how the Classic Cobb Salad came about. So, pinpointing an exact date is hard, but some time between 1929 and 1937 the Cobb salad became a signature dish at the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant, owned by Robert Howard Cobb. One story claims that Cobb would often eat late at night, after closing the restaurant he would prepare a salad with all the leftovers that he found in the kitchen and then topped it with bacon and dressing.

Today, Classic Cobb Salad is a main-dish American garden salad typically made with chopped salad greens like Romaine lettuce, tomato, crisp bacon, boiled, grilled or roasted chicken breast, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, chives, Roquefort cheese (Blue cheese), and red-wine vinaigrette or any of your favorite dressings. Like Mr. Cobb, some times, all I want to have for lunch or dinner is a salad. And this Cobb Salad hits the spot! It’s delicious and very filling!
