Hey Young Chefs!
I recently visited New York City to kick off the Dove Self-Esteem Weekend atop the Empire State Building. I am helping Dove achieve their goal of reaching 15 million girls by 2015 with self-esteem programming.
That was the view from the Empire State Building. It’s gorgeous!
At the Dove Self-Esteem event, I got to walk around and talk with some of the girls before the workshop started.
I was chosen as an unstoppable girl to curate the menu for the event. The menu consisted of:
Prosciutto Wrapped Breadsticks
Deviled Eggs
Chicken Salad Crossaint Sandwiches
Walking Taco (seven layer dip)
Hummus and Crudité
Fruit Salsa
The catering company, Shiraz Events, executed all of my recipes perfectly. They tasted just like I made them! I was so ecstatic that I got to take a picture with Executive Chef Sarah. (Sorry the picture is blurry!) I was so happy that all the girls loved the food.
There was also DJ Diamond Kuts and DJ J playing music for everyone. My mom and I danced the whole time! : )
The host of the event was Jess Wiener. She is the CEO of Talk To Jess. She lead the self-esteem/girl empowerment workshop. She was great at it too!
At one point in the workshop, she told everyone to take a silly selfie and post it. That’s exactly what my mom and I did! LOL.
This is Allyson and me at the Dove self-esteem event. She started Threads for Teens which gives two head-to-toe outfits to teen girls around the U.S.
I had so much fun with everyone at the event!
I just wanted to say thank you to Dove for choosing me as one of your unstoppable girls! Special thanks also to Ms. Marissa Florindi and her fantastic team at Edelman for coordinating everything, and Chef Sarah, Mr. Michael, and their fabulous team at Shiraz events.
